Default EGR problems...need help!!

while cruisnig, my check engine light came on out of the blue. previously, everything was fine. the code was for the knock sensor, and i noticed the car didnt feel so strong. then the idle changed, it would climb to 1700 and fall to 700 over and over. and i jumped the ecu again. now i had codes for the knock sensor and the egr lift sensor.

i replaced the egr valve and warmed up the car. it still couldnt hold idle, but it drove normally and the cel wasnt coming on. it would usually come on after about 5 min of driving, and i was out fot about an hour. the cel eventually came back on and the car wasnt driving normally anymore. i checked it and it was for the EGR again.. i am confused.

has anyone had any similar problems? does anyone know the solution? any and all input is appreciated. i need opinions before i go out and spend money. and i did search before creating this topic.

dude I recently did a jdm h22 swap in my 4th gen too and EGR was making my car run like straight ****. I ditched the p13 and got a chipped p28 from ih8ricerz and god damn does the car run great. I couldnt find anything wrong with my EGR unless the problem was with the EGR itself. Just my .02 cents.
