Default i think i hit the fuel cutoff or rev limiter, is this bad for the car?

i havent raced th R since i bought it , but today i had a go w/ a prelude sh, it is a sunny day and no cars on a nice clean street( i know about the dangers, but i really never do it), but anyway i wasnt paying much attention to the tach, and @ the end of 2nd, it seemed like the car hit an invisible wall, i felt this and shifted to 3rd, and everything went fine from then on................. my question is, does this harm the car, everything seemed ok afterwards, just curious cause i've never had this happen to me in any car, thanks

Nope, car should be fine. Rev. limiter is there for a reason.

however, you don't want to make a habit of it of course. Learn to shift at redline and to feel when you need to shift. You loose a lot of power when you hit the rev. limiter.

That's how I know when to shift!

Seriously, there are occasions at the track when the breaking zone is getting close but you have run out of gear. No time to bring it up another gear so you simply hold the car on the limiter for 25-50 ft. Happens all the time!

Regards,

yep, he got the jump, but by the end of 2nd, i had like 1/2 a car, and once 3rd came in, it was over, i had no idea how strong 3rd feels, it really pulled, I think he didn't put much of a fight b/c it felt too easy.

Consider himself lucky? Why? Bouncing off the rev limiter for a couple seconds isn't going to hurt anything. It is there for a reason - to protect the engine.
