Crank Angle Sensor HELP please
I am trying to add a crank angle sensor on a obd 2 ITR motor. The motor does not have a spot for it. What will happen if I don't hook it up? Please advise. It is going in a 96 civic obd2. thanks in advance...
Is this a JDM motor? You're actually refering to the crankshaft speed fluctuation sensor (CKFS) on the oil pump, correct? If that's the case and you have a JDM motor lacking the CKFS mounting points you'll need to get yourself a '96+ USDM GSR/ITR oil pump. Then all you'll need is the CKFS pulley and the sensor itself.

Really, yeah it is a JDM motor. Is there any way of mounting it with out the gsr/itr oil pump?

get a conversion harness and run a ecu, just hook up everything else but that sensor that isnt there because there is no obd2 in JDM land.

It's not going to run too well if you just don't wire it up. But yes, that is the other option, get a OBDI P72 (I personally would go with a chipped P28 even tho it doesn't have IAB control just because I hate the stock GSR ECU0 and OBDIIa-OBDI jumper. The easiest thing to do would just be to find a '96-99 JDM ITR P73 ECU as it's straight plug and play and actually is an OBDI ECU (doesn't look for VTM, CKFS, or a secondary oxygen sensor). Get yourself a CTR or ITR IN cam, a SK2 IN manifold and you won't even have to worry about the IAB's. Or just pull and cap the vacuum line running the to IAB diaphram (it won't let them be sucked closed while your motor is running).

actually it doesn't run all that bad, i've worked on a EK with a obd1 b18c1, and a obd2 gsr ecu, and it ran fine, just threw a check light for it.

That completely slipped my mind
Yeah the JDM ecu is the best way to go.

I have too, even though the CKFS reference is mainly used to detect misfires, etc. cars that I've worked on still ran better overall after the sensor is wired back up. Who wants to look at a CEL either?

My friend got a '98 JDM ITR ECU from a guy in Malaysia for $120.00 + $8.00 for shipping. Wasn't a bad deal at all and it made all the difference on his setup (B18C1/EJ6, CTR IN cam, and SK2 IN manifold, so you can see why).
damnit if i don't have the same problem
. My D15B vtec in a '92 VX w:z6 harness and P28 ecu 5spd. It had trouble starting like the day b4 it wouldnt crank over. This is a CODE 24 right? Some1 said it's by the dizzy, so i swapped my dizzy and it still has same prob. Where the hell is the CRANK ANGLE SENSOR on a D15B vtec? hellllp, not hijacking... same issue

Plug the harness in.
Plug the Ecu in.

Changing the oil pump is way more work than that, especially with the motor already in the vehicle....trust me I know, just did one a couple of days ago.....btw, you'll need the obd2 lower timing cover also (including what Kataku2K3 listed above) & the oil pump is around $100, not 50 bucks.
