Default Power window broke need help

My girlfriends two door 94 integra's passenger side power window went out. Neither controls make anything happen and its now off the track and down about 2 inches. I was wondering whats the easiest and cheapest way to fix it with out using duck tape?

Did a search and found this thread.

Same thing just happened to me today.
My driver side is stuck.

Does it need a new motor or just the control unit?
It works on and off, but most of the time, it don't.

Generally your power wires just snap inside the joint from the body to the door.

Open up the door pannel and check the voltage gooign to the motor when it should be moving. If its 0, open up the driver's side door panne and check the voltage gooing to the passenger side door from the driver's side window switch. If its 12V, then you've found your problem....a break in the wire from the driver's side to the passenger side.

next step is to find which door. Generally its the passenger side. Check the voltage to ther power wire gooign to the passenger side door _before_ it exits the interior through rubber channel on the side.

best bet is to get a wiring diagram as I cant explain it all.

For the window beeing off the track, it can be replaced in the track...not sure what you use to hold it in there.

I assume it is just a few wires in there.
Do I have to remove the door panel to access it? The control area don't pop up?

DOHHH ....j/k jetblack. I've done this on DA and DC tegs. Sounds like a faulty pwr window switch, either the master (driver side) or passenger side switch. 1. Take off your door panels, but be careful as you take them off to pull up and out slowly. 2. unplug the harness to the pwr window switches. 3. examine your pwr window switches for hairline fractures close to where it contacts the harness. If they seem to be fine, you can test out the system as jetblack stated above, but more than likely you will find that one of them is cracked or separated. 4. Try to source a set of cheap teg switches from a salvage yard or online. Worst comes to worst go to the dealer..............this should do the trick. Good luck........oh yeah, I'm sure if you do a search on HT you can find a thread that states it in better detail than I just did, and maybe even has pics.

Over about 6 years i have replaced 2 power window motors in my 95 integra ... the window motor is about $150 or so i think ... you have to take the door panel off to do the change ... its not a fun job .. but its not too complicated

Assuming the pw motor is out, and not just some crack in the switch (from the poster above), can I swap the passenger side motor and the driver side?
The pass side works but not the driver side.
I don't really want to spend $150 for a new one from the dealer, I will probably looks at some junk yards or post a WTB here.

Thanks.

you can swap whichever side you want .. they work individually ... i wouldnt recommend spending the time changing it to put a **** ball one in its place ... spend $150 on a new one

If your motor for your window works on and off it's normally a sign that the motor is going bad. When you have the door panel off you should see to wires that plug into the motor, unplug the motor run straight power from the battery (power and ground) to the motor. It's a reverse polarity system so one ways up and one ways down. Your going to have to unbolt the window from the regulator to get the window back in track. You probably broke one of the plastic clips at the bottom of the window that hold it to the track. A local glass shop should have the clips. They can fix it also, my shop only charges $35 to fix it. You can put a piece of wood like a 2x4 inside with the window up and screw a screw into the inside of the door panel (with the door panel off of course). It's getto but it works, we do that when parts need to be order and can't get them for a couple of days. You'll never see the hole when the panels back on.

Thanks but if I run the pw motor straight to the battery, why do I have to unbolt the window from the regulator?
Can't I just run a long wire straight to the battery (such as a speaker wire)?
I removed the panel yesterday, inspected the switch, looks okay but I am guessing it is the motor.

You have to unbolt the window from the regulator to put the window back in the track. If it's in the track your ok, just power and ground to the motor.

my passenger side window did exactly the same thing over the last few days, the drivers side is fine going up and down using the drivers side controls but neither controls would move the passenger window.

i checked the two 20A fuses for the passenger window. one's fine, but the other, whenever i replace it with a new 20A fuse, it just goes out ... this happened lately after my conversion to vertical doors ... i think one of the wires may have snapped .. any ideas? thanks heaps in advance
