removing power steering...
i have a 93 LS... if i remove the ps pump and loop a line on the rack... will the rack end up eating itself from lack of moving fluid/lubrication and or heat buildup and what not? i'd really like to get that pump outta there. if it does eat up the rack, anyone know how i can get a manual steering rack in the car?
theres a niftly way of doing this.
1. get a junk PS line from a junkyard if you not comfortable cuttin yours. you need the one with the screw fittin that goes into the rack.
2. get about 1 ft or so of hose.
3. cut off the screw fitting on the junk line about 1 inch or so above it
4. with a hose clamp slip the cut off screw part into the hose and clamp it on tight.
5. remove the lines from the power steering rack.
6. screw on your custom hose into the rack
7. get another hose clamp and slip it over the hose. then proceed with a small funnel to pour honda power steering fluid into the rack until it comes out the other open end of the rack
8. as fast as you can slip the hose of the other end of the rack and tightin it down.
9 proceed to remove PS system.
this way the rack will alway have fluid in it, you just need to check it every once in a while.
they sell kits to do this but instead of 50 bux i spent 5 for the line and the rest is labor

my one buddy improved the idea by using a T fitting in the line and like a small squeeze bottle full of PS fluid. that way you just need to squeeze the bottle every once in a while to cycly the fluid
