Default does cheap non synthetic oil burn faster than good synthetic oil?

i was wondering during my break in i have been using non synthetic cheap as 5w-30 oil. ad even after 500 miles i have to put in almot 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart. granted it didnt start using oil like ths until i started boosting hard these past few weeks. i have heard that 5w-30 oil in turbo cars burns up a lot faster than 10w-30 oil. was just wonderin if i switched to full synthetic 10w-30 (castrol syntec is what i use) would i notice my oil consumtion go down significatnly?

i checked for any oil leaks and i cant find any except i notice that i keep having to wip off oil residue from my motor right where the head meets the block right aboce the B18C1 engraving on the block. any one else have this problem?> i have heard that this is kind of normal..

during break-in you should not use synthetic oil... stick to the cheap low detergent 10-30 in my opinion.

5-30 is a bit thin unless your in very cold climate.

my thoughts.

once you're done breaking in switch to 10-w30 full syn. i haven't ever had to top off oil since i turbo'd. unless you're getting blowby you shouldn't burn the full syn.
