Valve Clearance Adjustments?
Hey guys I just have a question on my D16z6, I know after so many (I dont remember exactly how much) miles you have to get your valve clearances checked, is this something I can do or how hard is it?
not hard at all just takes a little time.... do it with the engine cold... (sitting over night!) just get the spec's from a hanes manual or whatever..... set the engine at TDC for cylinder #1 and adjust the valves for thatcylnder.... then turn crank over 180 deg. and set #3 then rotate again 180 to align tdc marks and do #4 then 180 and adjust #2..... very easy and you will notice instant results if your valves needed the adjusting.... get the feeler gauges you need from any auto store... advance, auto zone, pep boys, checkers what ever like $4.00.... also if you want more info you can go to the parts stores and just read the book and take notes....if you need to.... i do!
Check and preform the lash warm to the touch. Around 105 degree. The fireing order is 1,3,4,2 of course. Put TDC, check #1. Put a screwdriver in # 3, rotate crank counter clockwise, get it till the screwdriver goes all the way up. Check it. And so on.
Why open the dist. cap. He can see the cam gears align with the markings. TDC! He is not trying to find fireing order. Next is take the timing belt cover off, right. LOL. Ok, just buy a manual for basic service. It is your best friend.
