Default How high is to high with Octane?

i was always under the impression that your octane could never be too high (unless on a stock motor) ...but i was reading in a thread the person had a mild turbo setup and he was using 110 or a 120 octane i think for when he was at the the track and someone told him that he should run lower octane because its to high and its prob not fully burning off ...is this true or is it just for Boosted applications and on a built N/A car you could never have enough octane?...sorry if it sounds stupid ...or if this belongs in a different forum please move it then ...

run the lowest octane you can get away with. The higher the octane, the harder it is to ignite, and if you dont have enough "power" to ignite it, you will lose power
