B18C-R represents a JDM ITR engine. That way you can differ it from a B18C that is a JDM GSR engine.

That's correct but people on this board often refer to the JDM ITR engine as a B18CR to distinguish it from the JDM GSR B18C because both of those JDM engines have the "B18C" stamping.

i almost chewed my fingers off trying to find out wether street imports sold me a gsr or a type r B18C. there are a lot of ways to determine which it is...type r uses green markings, gsr uses pink (cute), type r has pr3 stamps, uses p73, s80 lsd, some say the runners on a type r curve up more? (hasport) while the gsr are more straight? what sucks is this stuff is easy to swap but the only way to realy prove it would be to blue print it unless some one else out there has some thing easier to tell me. which would be nice to know.....guys......girls......anyone.

Nah, I thought it came B18CR and on the head it had the "tite car" stamp, somewhere next to the pentagram stamp of approval.
