MIL ON, Code 61, 98 Prelude
Hello,
Would like your opinion; my 98 prelude is throwing a code 61 (Slow Response, Primary O2 Sensor) and this has been the third time in a duration of 6 months. After resetting the ECU, it took anywhere from a few months to a few weeks before the problem resurfaced.
I've searched around the internet and on these forums and this problem seems to be common. According to alldata.com, it's supposed to be a TSB. I would like to replace the sensor (maybe Denso or Honda retail parts), but it's pretty expensive.
But I'm not sure if that will fix the problem seeing that some people rip through many 02 sensors in a short amount of time, which seems abnormal.
The only other thing I've read is that I might have an exhaust leak, but I've checked and everything seems to be ok.
My car is now 6 years old, and it is all stock. Is this about the time when 02 sensors deteriorate?
Has anyone had this problem and able to solve it? Thanks!
