replacing inside door handles.....how hard?
I need to replace both inside doors handles on my '92 accord. I was wondering how hard it is to do. Has anyone done this before. Any tips I should know that will help me out?
I heard this is a common problem with these cars.

I have not noticed that it is a common problem with this gen.
I do however have a clue as to HOW this problem occurs.
WAY too many of my passangers LOVE to get out of the car before the engine is off. Since my alarm auto locks the doors, when they try to open it won't and they think they need to pull harder and so they pull as hard as they can till I notice it and yell at them to stop.
As for replacement, it will be easy.
The most common problem with that gen accord is the dam antenna mast, they ALL break.

yeah, ahmen to that.
fortunately/unfortunately my aftermarket radio doesn't even trigger the raising/lowering of the antenna even though the wire is connected
oh well...who listens to radio anyways nowadays

Funny thing is.
I don't, but I fixed the antenna anyways after 5 years and I still don't use it!
LOL

exactly, everytime i stop the car, no matter how many times i bitch, the passenger will start yanking on the ******* handle like the car is about to explode.
i've replaced two handles on my 5th gen, i'm not sure how much different it is for a 4th gen, but in my case removing the door panel wasnt even necessary. you just pop a little cover off the handle trim and unscrew it, it'll pull out and you can disassemble it completely from there.

Someday I would like to know WHY people do that.
Whenever I am in somebody elses car I always wait till they are ready to leave the car before I go for the handle.
I'ts just polite.

The motor is not hard to fix.
When you say stuck is the motor still running?

If your mast is just broken and your motor is still running just remove the mast holder (the circle thing on the base of the mast connected to the car). Then before you eed in the new mast line to the motor just have someone turn on the radio or something to trigger the motor to start running and it will at first raise the mast and then turn the radio off....this will cause the motor to go into the "lowering" phase and start feeding the mast in. Put the mast holder back on and viola...a 5 minute job
. As far as the door handles
to anyone who trys to pry the door open before the door is unlocked (its not a ******* ford). Its just a matter of removing the cap behind the handle and unscrew it and pop it off...chiltons ownZ!

Listen for the motor.
If it runs then replace the mast.
If it is dead, try to get another OEM part and just plop it in.
