Default Exhaust manifold question

Is it normal for the exhaust manifold to creek while cooling off? I know that is has something to do with heat expanding. I have heard it on mufflers when you turn off the motor and listen for these strange sounds. Is it normal to hear this popping/creeking noise coming from the exhaust manifold? It did not do this when the car was new? Any comments?

Well it shouldn't be very loud, but the expansion and contraction of them metal is whats making that sound. I had it on my z28 a few years back....my accord does it but its very quiet to where I almost don't even hear it.

Mine is somewhout loud. It spooks me sometimes when i'm checking my oil. It's definitely coming from the exhaust manifold. Only one fairly loud creek/pop and maybe another in 6 minutes. The manifold was taken off a few months ago and a threaded stud was replaced. Old steel gasket was reused. Work done at a local Honda dealership. Is this normal?

yup.......my car creaks HELLA loud, specially during the summer........u might wanna try cleaning ur bay......getting grunge off the manifolds and block will let the engine disipate heat easier, and actually run cooler

I'm going to drain the radiator and refill to see if the engine runs cooler and therefore maybe the creaking/poping will stop.

normal mix of coolant to water is 50/50, could try a slight increase in coolant compared to water, maybe 55/45 or so.
