anyone heard of boring out main oil galleys?
a buddy of mine has been telling me that boring the oil galleys in the lower girdle can really improve oil flow and extend engine life. Has anyone ever done this, or heard of it? If so, does it work?
just a thought but, oil galleys are a certain size due to the fact that their size it what keeps up oil pressure. For example, imagine water coming out of a hose thats 1 inch in dia. and then imagine the same amount of water coming out of a hose thats 3inch in dia. Which one will have more pressure? You dont want to lower your oil pressure. Thats just my opinion tho I could be wrong.

This seems logical in theory. I've never heard of doing this either.

Don't do that.... In a typical wet sump oiling system, you want proper pressure to permit the oil to reach certain areas. If you want more oil flow, get a bigger pump... If you are looking for better performance, switch to a dry sump system... I am concerned by this type of advice you have gotten....
