Default question about LS and B20 motors

Well I got a smog ref ticket and im considering my options here.
I am aware that I can use all del sol vtec parts and make my JDM b16 pass under the assumption that the smog ref believes that im running a del sol vtec. But I dont really want to spend the money to make it all legit and then have him tell me to go **** myself. So Ive always wanted a LS/Vtec, or B20/Vtec. I am considering just getting an LS motor switching to OBD1 if need be and passing that way. But I would prefer a b20. I forsee a problem though , Obviously a b20 ecu will not work because they only come in automatic. WHat options would have ecu wise with a b20 in order for it to pass smog ref inspection if any???
is it possible to use a usdm LS ecu with a b20?
or any other usdm 5spd bseries ecu?

yeah, only the 97s were auto only, I believe... 98 gained 5 speeds, and 99 got higher horsepower/compression..

The ref won't pass a b20 'cause it's considered a light truck motor.
A properly installed LS motor with the appropriate emissions equipment can pass with an obd1 conversion and an obd1 LS ecu.
You can get a vtec head and ecu later. Good luck.
