Anyone have exp with RF amps
I just bought a RF 2-channel Punch 301S amplifier. I was looking at the amp and the packaging and noticed a 30A fuse but nowhere to put it on the amp. I removed the side shields to get a better view of all the connections...still didnt see anywhere to put a fuse. Anyone know where the hell is goes??
TIA!!
TIA!!
sounds reasonable except this
also included in the packaging was a "fuse holder" of sorts
It had one small connector on each side of it and a flip open top. When you open the top, it had two holes...to put the fuse in. So the fuse is in that thing chilling. Of course I didnt get it to come on. I ran out of daylight and I think either my REM or grund isnt connected properly or this fuse is the problem. So if I can get it to work tomorrow, then I guess i can disregard this question.
It threw me off because on teh last amp install I did, there was a designated connection for the fuse right by the other connections, so you just slid the supplied fuse into the connection.

LOL....yeah see I am fricking clueless. I emailed RF and I am waiting to see what they say, but they probably wont respond until monday or tuesday. I DID get 3 allen wrenches, so I may use them on the other holes and see if I cant find a fuse location. If not, then I guess Ill wait until I hear from RF
I was reading some ebay auctions and I came across one for the 301S saying that it was triway/tri-mode capable with 10 GA wirng and a 30A fuse. I have no frickign clue what that tri-mode stuff is so I KNOW I wont be using it. So I am thining that I have a bad ground or a bad REM. Thanks for the help though
Read the manual....

3. Trim the RED wire (power cable) within 18" of the battery and strip 1/2"of insulation from the end of the wire. Cut the wire loop that is attached to the fuseholder in half and splice the fuse into the power line using appropriate inline connectors. Use the section of cable that was trimmed earlier and connect it to the other end of the fuseholder.</TD></TR></TABLE>
That thing is your inline fuse holder and must be located no more then 18" from the battery...your amp uses a 30A fuse.
If you have it connected as per the manual, start by testing the amp remote and the power wire...

yeah I did that. My amp wiring kit came with that fuse that is being discussed in that paragraph. It works now. My ground was shitty. I am still clueless as to what that other fuse does and the manual ( I just read again) makes no mention of it.
Its weird how RF doesn't have that fuse built into the amp...I know of someone who accindently fried his amp during installation but RF exchanged since it was new.
the fuse is for some special tri mode feature. I guess my amp DID have a fuse built in. IF it doesnt, then I guess these amps dont need one. My ground was shitty, that is why it wouldnt come on.
