alpine just quit on me!
Sooo. I bought an alpine deck today and installed it in my DC. To lazy to go check the model. But so it worked fine.. Then I turned the volume up past 25 and it just shut off. Now it won't turn back on. The deck has no fuse anywhere. I rewired everything. Checked the radio/cigarette lighter fuse, that's fine. Amp fuse is fine. Still won't even turn on. Any suggestions??
thers prolly a 7.5 amp backup fuse under the hood thats blown, and your alpine fuse is prolly 10-15 amp. so its prolly pulling more current than the factory circuit can handle.
The fuse for the Alpine HU, [most HUs nowadays] is plugged right into the back of the HU, probably covered by the HU speaker/power harness, however JSPECSIR is correct, it is more then likey the "back up power" fuse in the engine bay fuse box, a 7.5A, the Alpine fuse will be at least a 10A.
What you should do is run a fused 12ga lead from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the HUs constant power, [yellow] to it, just like you would wire power to and off board amp, do not forget to replace the backup power fuse, and cap off the now unused constant power lead in the OEM radio harness, [or if using a harness adapter, depin and remove the yellow lead the Alpines yellow lead was connected to.
