Default Intake Heat Shield

I just got done making a heatshield for my intake

reason i needed it, was that i have a 4th gen intake (got it w/ filter for $15) and the filter sits closer to the engine

anyone interested in buying one, because i still have a bunch of extra material...

(the black stuff is door edge gaurd to help prevent scratchs on anything...eg...me )

would that actually work? the heat shield ive seen have actually encompassed the filter mostly and that helped prevent heat soak.

this is a great DIY though. good work

It Kinda Works, but my next step is to put an actuall "shield" around the filter (found some big metal shingles form homedepot for $0.59)...just gotta save up for some rivets

Oh, and whoever asked...it's made from stainless steel.

IMO you could make some money if you made a "kit" with some simple bolts the purchaser could put it together and install it. Hell I would buy one. Pm'ed ya

not sure if it works but looks pretty neat?

add some slotted foam piece and sell it as a "DIY bypassvalve!"

sounds like a money maker eh? if AEM can sell it why go ahead!!!

Thats not a heat sheild. More like a filter only heat sheild. Heres some pics I thought might help you design a V.2.

Not to knock on your design or anything. Just would like to see something like a peice of sheet metal from the radiator support to the shock tower. That way it would block that whole area where the old intake box used to be.

Exactly what I was going to post. It needs to block the heat when the hood is shut and that is exactly what this design does. Try to fab something like in the picture.

Just go to Home Depot and get a small sheet of sheet metal. Than get some sun material crap that you put in your front windshield to block the sun from melting your dash. Draw a template on something, than cut the sheet metal and wrap that sun material around it and your set.
