noob question. when does my vtec hits?

Default noob question. when does my vtec hits?

ok i have a b16a s1 tranny. stock motor. on a crx. i was wondering.
when does it realy hits. cause i was told that it was 4800 but i hear my vtec around 5200.. ?

Check your ECU, if it's a stock (non-modified or non-chipped) it's most likely hitting at 5200. I believe that is when the PR3 and PW0 kick in. Those are typically the most common OBD-0 VTEC ECUs. You should be able to hear it though. Just put the car into second and slam on it, so long as your tires arent making a ton of noise you should hear it just fine.... If you cant seem to hear it your filter in your vtec solenoid might be clogged.

If you're using an oem tach, it pretty much sucks. which ecu are you using? has it been "chipped?"

you should feel it between 5000-6000.
5200 is normal, thats where I feel it.

If your VTEC is hitting weak (clogged solenoid filter or bad spark perhaps) you aren't going to feel it. As much as everyone tells you to wait for the feeling wait for teh sound. It's the sound that your going to notice before the feeling.

That made me so nervous.

My PWO has a governor too, but I guess that's what keeps me from killing myself...

Not like I ever hit 100+ in my car anyway.. But my vtec come in at like EXACTLY 5000 unless I'm barely hitting the gas..
