Hey guys. I've got a quick question for fellow R owners running remote starts. After much archive searching (all forums), my question remains, Do any ITR owners have a fail-proof way of bypassing the remote start capability (if accidently left in gear) using custom devices of any sort? The installer/friend that put in my alarm uses a magnetic read switch on his RSX to insure his car won't drive away but said the Integra isn't capable of such a setup because our shift linkage is outside of the car.
If anyone has experience with this please respond or PM.
BTW, the remote start is absolutely not high on the priority list and came virtually at no additional cost (not for bling points, just a warm car in the morning
).

Don't have any details but you have to bypass a switch on the clutch for it to work. Once its bypassed, the car will be able to start w/o depressing the clutch.

Sorry for not making it clearer. The remote start IS now functional, too functional. I never leave the car in gear, but with my luck, I'll shift it down during a CD player install or something then try to remote start it and see it run over someone's cat or something.

search the audio/security section.. there was a post a while ago about making a hoodpine into a failsafe. they used L brackets and stuff. I have a remote start on my R. only left it in gear 1x and it rolled across teh Walmart parking lot. Quite amusing

thanks dude. I read that one earlier but it only works (prevents) in 1st.
Sorry to hear about the Wal-Mart incident. With my luck, it will be in front of a bank with a glass entrance!

My Compustar must be put in "reservation" mode in order to enable a remote start the next time the car is started. To do this you must exit the car in a certain sequence. The passenger door must be closed, then you put it in neutral and release the clutch, ensuring it won't be in gear the time you remote start the car, you then pull the ebrake with your foot off the brake, and take the keys oyut. The car remains running until you shut the door. The car then shuts off and arms the alarm automatically. I have yet to have any problems.

I have the Compustar, Its been great but time to move on. Three years and its starting to fail- NOT due to the alarm but due to the installation of it.
I dont' have a type R, but i have an RS installed in my SI.
The only fail-safe i have is some switch that is connected to the e-brake. If the brake isn't up, the car will not RS. I have RS'ed my car when it was in gear once, and it just nudged forward a little bit.
The truth is, your honda doesn't have enough torque to propel it.

Clifford alarm...car running in neutral, you hit the buttons on the remote, shift, shift, #3, you can hear the relay click, take the key out of the ignition...car is still running, close the door and arm the alarm. The car turns off after the alarm was armed...when you come back the car is still in neutral since you left it that way, and you start the car with the remote, and disarm the alarm.
