Remote start for standard...
Hey, I've been looking into the remote starters...and I have a '01 civic 4 door. IS there a way i can get the remote start to work? I'm guessing there would be a conflict with the clutch having to be engaged to start the vehicle...can i bypass the clutch in any way? This might have been on another post...but i couldnt find it
Thanks alot man

yah buy one made for a manual transmission. There are lots of companies that make them. Polar Start, Clifford G4 series with intellistart, Code Alarm, AutoStart. The list goes on and on. I have a Polar Start alarm starter combo that I could sell you if you are interested.

Just wait until you hit the button on accident someday (It WILL happen), and either smack your car into a pole/wall/car/concrete pylon/or even worse a person, the day you forget to take out out of gear.
Who leaves their car out of gear when parking anyhow? I sure as hell never would.

Colt</TD></TR></TABLE> |Just get a remotestart for a standerd, [then you don't have to worry about fogetting it in gear] the remotestart will have an output that will be used to trip a relay that will "override" the clutch override when remote starting the car.
One of the best ones I have installed is the Compustar starter/alarm for standerds, works great, lots of range, you don't even need to see the car to start it

my friend has a late 90s 4runner and you have to have it in N and the clutch in the start it, I heard you can get this part from the junk yard and hook it into your car...... if anyone has heard about this please respond!!
Saskatchewan its so flat here you stand on a chair you can see the back of your head.....truly though yeah it is really flat here...dont' really have to contend with any abnormal parking on hills and such

you can bypass the clutch switch by taking the wires going to the switch cutting them and splicing them together. No reputable alarm shop will install a remote start on a car with manual tranny. Also I'm not sure but you may have a transponder in your key and in that case the install may be a little harder. I did one on a 01 or 02 accord and I had to take a spare key, cut it in half, remove the transponder, and glue it to the side of the ignition box. you'll know when you get it in the right position because the key or security light in your dash will stop flashing. If you know someone who's more experienced in car circuitry you could even wire in some resistors to the right impedence of the transponder to bypass the factory security system instead of hacking up a $100 key.
