remote start question?
In the long run...using the remote start to start your car damage anything... like engine wise or starter wise? I've been using it for a year on my 95 gs-r...thanks
As long as the remote start unit stops cranking the engine over once it has started I can see no harm in prolonged use of one. My friend owns 2 stereo shops, and has never had a costumer come back in with problems caused by their remote start systems, or alarm system that featured a remote start. I think the bigger worries would be problems caused by instalation error, or stupidity (I.E. a remote start on a manual transmission, with a clutch bypass switch left in gear and started causing the car to drive itself into something). If it has worked for you this long without problems, it will likely continue to do so.
It should not. Mine it will not try to start if car is in gear. The only way I can use it is if I...
1) come to a complete stop. 2) Put the car in Nuetral 3) Pull the Hand Brake Up.
I have to do it in that order, and I will know it worked as the car will stay one when I take the keys out (like a turbo timer) untill I shut the door.
So as long as there is some sort of saftey feature like that, then you should not have any problems at all.
