Default How do you know if a wastegate is bad?

Well as the topic said. Also i have noticed that no matter where i set my boost on my manual controller it spikes everytime. What are some ways to check the wastegate.? Kinda scarying ,it spiked to 22 lbs, I know my block can handle it BUT i am the one with the mf2 pronlems so i dont have the fuel mixture right and i am afraid of something bad happening. TIA

Check for vacuum leaks at the wastegate. Or even the gasket inbetween the manifold and wastegate. Get the "fire-ring" gasket if its blown.
I personally dont know how to test and see if the wastegate itself is broken, sorry.

If it spikes and can't control boost , then it is bad! If you have a Deltagate, the diaphram is known for leaking and must be replaced. The Deltagate has a bolt the holds the diaphram down which is also known to back out, therefore not being able to control boost!
