Mini-me ppl i need help
Wll i finished it up today and i'm having a problem. I have 1 cel wich is 14, the i dle air controll valve. But that is not the problem, the car is missing pretty bad. We tried adjusting the timing a few times, btw wich mark is tdc? is it the white or the red? We tried them both and still that damn problem, the miss. I don't want to drive it and my winter car needs a water pump, wich isn't a few hour job, it's a mucery mystique.
I NEED HELP ASAP!!
Thanks
Pat

damn dude if you set TDC to the red mark you are hella off and you have a chance you could be smacking those pistons with the valves, i would check to see if tdc is the white mark first and foremost, then get yourself a timing light and set the igntion timing. Code 14 is the least of your worries right now
white is tdc. if you went red your way off. put it tdc and look at the cam gear and see if the up arrow is staight up and the marks at 3 and 9 o-clock are parallel with the upper surface of the head (up arrow on stock cam gear only). also check and see if at tdc the rotor in the distributor is pointed at the no.1 terminal on the dist. cap. distributor could be 108 out.
well if it is throwing an IACV code.. did you clean the valve?? my friends car seemed to be miss firing anf we just cleaned out the IACV and it stopped.. try it.. and more importantly fix your timing problem you created.... you dont wanna be replacing valves

yeah screw the IACV that can wait, as i stated earlier, dont mess up those valves because you "think" you got the timing right.
