Default Too much oil??

The dealer put almost 5 quarts of oil in my R, and I checked the dipstick, it is way more than the full mark? Will it hurt the engine??? Any thoughts?

Why did the morons put 5 qts in there?

Just for kicks, take it back to the dealership and tell them to put the exact amount in there. (I think it's 4.2qts when you replace the oil filter.)

Quicker just to drain the extra off and tell everyone to never go there.

Oh, it's a hassle to drain just "1 quart" out of it"...maybe I should go back to that dealer & ask them to drain it for me, heck, but it's time consuming and my boss will not like seeing me out of the office again in this time of period

Or, you can stay in VTEC for a prolonged time and burn off all that oil.

I suppose anyone can make a mistake but if a garage overfilled my oil i would be pixxed off. I mean that is what you pay them for. If a piece of equipment i install isnt right i get called back so i guess your right.

If you want something done right, you've got to do it yourself.

Completely agree, that's why I don't ever let anyone touch the car. Know too many mechanics and they all have a horror story to tell. hehe

Oh, it's an Acura dealer, the same that I bought my R from, and they are offering me a free oil change, so that's why I took advantage of it, this is the second time I didn't change the oil myself, the first time was offered by the dealer for the frist oil change.... Anyway, who knows if it is bad for my B18C5?????

Yep! You can probably burn off a good amount of oil by driving your car nice and hard

They put 5 quarts in mine last time. I brought 5 quarts of mobil1. They usually leave me a 1/2 quart in the floorboard. I got in and saw it wasn't there. Hmmm... I talked to the service guy, and the guy who worked on my car couldn't be found. They did find 5 empty bottels of mobil1 though. The service guy told me 'it should be fine'. I guess he could see the shock on my face when he asked how much should it take. I'm like, 'about a quart less!!!, couldn't that blow the motor?'. He said, no it should be okay, but they'll drain the excess if I want, but that he probably wouldn't worry about it. Obviously I had them drain it.
Now I have to get it changed again either this week or next. I'm thinking about taking it to the honda dealer instead.

I though acura was supposed to have top notched people???

It is like 1-1.5 cm higher than the full mark. Apparently, I brought the big Mobil 1(5 quarts) and that service guy put almost all of it into the engine. It has about .2-.3 quart left in the case. Well, I guess I will drain it MESELF this weekend and not hitting redline until I drain it....

Don't forget to let the MANAGER of the service dept. know about the situation. And, if a servey is coming, give them a big F on the comment section.
