i drove geoffs car from NJ to AZ with it hanging like that and i had no problems whatsoever and to be honest, it never dawned on me that it was hanging there, not that i was offroading or slamming debris... perhaps i should have been a little more aware though

Did you use any rubber isolaters for vibration damping on the pump? If so, where did you get em ' from?

I just cut some 1/2" spacers out of some extra 3/8" hose I had laying around.

why would it? your still using the stock plunger little thing, yeah if your low on gas it will spill out of the sump back into the tank and you will starve it for gas, but don't worry about it just keep the tank over 1/4 tank on the street.

Me too, kind of off the subject but it is actually a CE sump... We originally just ran a bottom feed straight off the tank but we were developing surging and leaning out problems top end (when the pump just couldn't get any fuel, sloshing)... This always happened if we even got anywhere close to 3/4 of a tank or less... You may or may not have seen in some other fuel sump posts so I'll just say it again... When we installed the sump Scott (CrazyCompression) and I dropped the tank, had it acid tanked (stripping it to bare metal), and then cut the enitre top of the tank off... After the top was out of the way we were able to gut the stock baffle out (drilling out spot welds is always FUN), then we pounded one of the reinforcement ridges in the tank flat so that we had a nice surface to weld to (only the one above the sump plate)... But before it was welded we first drilled nine 0.75" holes (only) near the front/shallow side of the sump so that under acceleration fuel is "locked" in before it's pumped forward... Here's a pic from Sonoma last year before we figured out that bottom feeds don't work too well (as you can see we just welded a fitting into the bottom then ran a 90º off of that)... Just my $0.02 again

It actually allows your tank to hold more fuel, (of course not by any considerable amount, maybe a quart max) but when the light comes on your tank would have more fuel in it with the added sump than it would without (stock tank)... Not a big deal, Scott and I ran the fuel return back in the top of the tank where the factory pump would normally sit...

It wouldn't work with our pump, they rely a lot on gravity feed... With the MagnaFlow's you just need to remember that they aren't good at sucking but they have a lot of pushing power... For this reason we have to mount the pump really close to the same level as the sump... Our basic rule for mounting the pump is, if you can't place it at the same level or lower than the pickup feed it's probably not going to work... Again, I haven't noticed as much of a problem with the Aeromotive pumps (we mainly use MagnaFlow tho) but then again they flow a lot less... Peace
