I didn't notice a loss of torque when going to a testpipe. I did go from stock cat to Carsound cat to T1R testpipe, maybe I didn't notice because I was gradually stepping down.

Maybe you could use some cam tuning.

I doubt you felt and major torque loss by removing a restriction in the exhaust.

i think with a test pipe you have a trade off, you get improved high end response but you lose torque down low

If you felt "major torque loss" from taking your cat out, I think you broke something.

The stock cat is a restriction. Adding a test pipe will give you more power, like 2 hp or something. Put the cat back in and save some trees.

It's a trade off. You need some back pressure to create torque. On the other hand, you sacrifice top end power. When you eliminate the cat, you feel a torque loss but, feel the RPM going up crazy at top end.

lack of backpressure with test pipe will make you feel sluggish in low rpm. test pipe comes in real handy when driving at high rpm.
