Default Do I need a BOV

I am currently turbocharging my 89 civic si with a ZC. I am only going to run with at the most 9 lbs of boost. My concern is wasting money on a BOV if I don't need it. Any feedback will help. Thanks

take your time and get every piece needed dont skip or try to get by without having a single piece. even if it takes another year to get all the pieces together it will be better than blowing up your car. right?

dont try to save money building a turbo motor, unless you are saving that money to buy a new motor

Any BOV, DSM or aftermarket will work good.

I'm getting the impression this guy doesn't know what he's doing. Either way, yeah get a First Generation DSM Talon/Eclipse BOV.

why get a first generation dsm talon/eclipse BOV? Does it matter between all the company's BOV? like performance wise? or do they all just do the same damn thing, cept make a different noise?

You can pick up a used DSM BOV for around $30-$50. Most universal aftermarket BOVs start at $170 (new) and go up from there.

EDIT: if you're only running low boost then IMO it's not necessary to run a name brand BOV. They pretty much do the same thing, just some better then others.

I am actually looking at getting a Greddy type-S BOV. I can't find any specs for this BOV on the lowest boost this will work with. I've seen the max, 18 lbs. but no lower limit. I am not even sure I can run 9 lbs due to the MTBE in the fab. wisconsin gas. My comp. ratio now w/o turbo is around 10.2:1. Only one way to find out.
