DSM or Bosch BOV, both cheap as hell.

dsm bov hands down. It does the exact same thing as all the others. Only time I would buy an expensive bov is when I do my engine build down the road after college.

also a good note if ya go the DSM route, buy the pipe that the bov is on also so you have a flange, i got a while pipe with bov for 30 bucks shipped I just cut the flange off and smoothed it down and welded to my piping, alot easier that way IMO

Yeah, Diamond Star Motors = DSM = Mitsubishi.

You can find a DSM BOV for around $30-$80. I think that most of them are plastic though, so you have to get some hose clamps and a hose and clamp it down to your piping. If you want I have a VR4 plastic BOV that I can sell you. I'll only charge you te cost of shipping which should be about $10 or so.

cool, thanks.
is there any issue with the plastic bov (in terms of breaking under certain pressures/popping off)? I don't really know how to mount the bov, so if it's mounted on a 2.25" pipe i'd pay you for it ;P

at any rate ill probably end up buying it from you assuming it's in good condition and is reliable and can handle my boost.

I bought it for my old turbo Lude setup, and the only thing I was worried about was the BOV popping off when it's under boost. I never got to actually use it though, so I wouldn't know first hand if it would pop off or not. To mount it to your IC or intake pipe you would need to cut a hole in the pipe 1 1/4 inch in diameter. Then get a metal tube with on outer diameter of 1 and 1/4 inch and weld it onto the hole. Now just get two hose clamps and a small section of rubber tubing and put the BOV in place.

Do you have a flange or anything on your piping right now that you could mount a BOV to?

EDIT: if you are worried about using a plastic BOV, get a 1G DSM BOV. I believe they have a flange, so as long as you have an adapter on your piping you can bolt it up. Do a search in the FI archives for DSM BOV. There are a bunch of threads about 1G BOV's.

there proven bovs for low boost setups, or you can buy them "crushed" to hold high boost.

but 12 psi and below, use a DSM, the one I got was not plastic, i forget if it was a 1st gen or 2nd gen though. Maybe do a search for them and find out.

But don't worry about them "popping off" these have been proven time and time again.

From what I've read 2G DSM BOV's are the crappy plastic ones that cant hold boost. I've also read that the DSM guys are boosting up to 15-20 PSI on the 1G DSM BOV's.

2g BOV's suck and are plastic the 2g owners upgrade to 1g BOV's which aren't plastic. the 1g bov can hold 18psi give or take and then you can crush it and it will hold more boost. By crushing it I mean literally putting it in a vise and crushing the top of it and it will hold more pressure. goto ebay and search 1g bov and you'll see what i mean. You can also do a search on here and find a lot of info.

where can I get piping that will mate to a dsm 1g flange? flanges are going to be irrelevant if i cant get a 2.25" pipe with a matching flange. I dont have a shop, so welding is always a last resort.

can those 1g dsm bovs be had new, or would the used ones be in decent enough condition? ebay? are they controlled by vacuum hose or what, how does the whole thing work?

i find it hard to believe that plastic bovs will be so bad that they cant hold 8psi, which is probably run those dsms.

what year are the 1gs (ill search, but you could tell me to save me time )?

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/

http://www.roadraceengineering...s.htm for a direct link to the flange section

Check them out and see if you can find what you need. You can probably get them new from the dealership, but the reason they are so popular is cause you can get them used for cheap and they work really well. BTW 1G Eclipses are 89-94.

Also I doubt you'll find a piece of piping that will suit your exact needs unless it's from somebody with a similar setup you want to run. It would probably be easier for you just to modify the pipe you have and have a flange welded on there. Just go to any muffler shop and have them do the work for you. Or you caould always JB weld that stuff.
