Basically my turbo has the water lines runing up and down and the oil running paralell to the ground. So i go to rotate the center section of the turbo, i get all the bolts except the 2 near the water outlets. They wont budge. Theyve been soaking in liquid wrench, i used a pole at the end of the wrench for extra torque, ive tried heat. nothing seems to work. Basically my question is can i just buy a 90 degree brass fitting and then add the barb ending to the end?

I doubt it highly and i bet it will really constrict the flow, but it was worth a shot.......If anyone has a sure fireway to get these bolts loosened that would also be helpful, they are starting to get striped pretty badly

I know it can be a bitch to remove the center section bolts. What I did was grab a long wrench, put the box end on the nut, then grab the turbo in your hands put it up against your stomach, hold it tightly and force the open end of the wrench against something solid like a bench.

Put all your wieght into it, make sure you are forcing it counter clock wise and don't drop the turbo when the bolt breaks loose. Its pretty dramatic when the bolt breaks loose , it feels like you broke the head off the nut.

That was the only way I could break them loose as I could not fit it into the Vise properly.

Good luck it can be real tough.

I wouldn't use a 90 degree for oil return, try to look for 45 degree or so, They will help the flow much better.

i ran into a problem like that before....i basically broke the head of the bolt off cuz of the rust. take the turbine housing off and now u have like a 1/4 inch or less of the remaining bolt thread sticking out. clap the housing down, spray the threads with wd-40, find a good pair of channel locks(visegrips suck) and turn the sucker out. now all you gotta do is buy brand new bolts

 

you just need to clock it. you don't want oil path over 25* or so. I use a torch to heat up the bolts/housing first they come out easier after some heat.

 

Yea, i gotta try heat again. Basically i did what you said with put the closed end of the wrench on the bolt and just put a pole on the end and w/ that much torque, they came undone really easily. but the ones near the water outlets dont allow you to put the closed end or reallt let you get the open end all the way on there, so basically im trying but its not quite tight enough so the wrench will turn and strip the bolt.

Thanks for the suggestions, i guess ill try more heat and liquid wrench and hope the bitches come loose.

That seems kinda dangerous to put it up against your stomach
