Default Can air fuel ratio affect boost pressure?

I'm trying to figure out what might cause the spiking problem I'm having. Low boost setting is fine(held rock steady at 8psi). I'm using a lovefab sst with a 35mm tial(.4bar spring), Turbo xs dual stage MBC. On the high boost setting it would go to 14psi then settle back down to 12psi. That was also around where the air fuel started to richen up from a lean spike. I'm going to try a heavier spring and am also getting retuned, but just wondered if air fuel or timing can effect it at all? Thanks.

Nate

It holds steady on low boost. It's just the high boost setting on the turbo xs controller. I'll probably end up running a bigger spring and just use the first stage of the boost controller.

I would start off by disconnecting the boost controller and testing it, if it still creeps, then its most likely your slick manifold.

is it really necessarry to make fun of cody's manifolds. you just did this in another thread. it's not very professional you think?
especially when in your sig, you are trying to represent full-race

Air fuel ratios in combination with low ignition timing can cause boost creep, but probably not a spike.

It's been demonstrated and a proven diagnosis of fixing the problem with a proper tune. im user Falcon GSR can attest to this

But its not often the case, really.

how are you controlling boost? It may very well be that the boost controller you are using is causing the spike and/or your wastegate vacuum lines.

A/F ratio and timing can effect creep, but not spike.

Mase, what the hell are you talking about, creep? He specifally said in his post that it will hold 8 psi "rock steady." That means it's not creeping.

opps, good call, i totally read that wrong.

my bad.

yes this is a spike, not a creep.

Creep is caused by too much exhaust energy going thru the turbo instead of the wastegate. If the wastegate spring is too stiff the valve will sometimes not open all the way, which can cause creep.

like i said before it could be the boost controller..

the only mistake ive made today is calling this creep instead of spike.

the question on the topic title was can air fuel ratio affect boost pressure. chances are no, ignition timing can, but not near as much as manifolds can.
