My car is dead
My tranny stopped working. Now my car wont start either. Is that some kind of safety? I guess its time to swap the motor and the tranny. For a H22 and H23 how much should this cost?
There's no definative price for H22's. There are factors like engine quality, what you have to buy that doesn't come with the engine, the shop that's putting it in, how fast you want it done. Stuff like that you have to consider when you are thinking of swapping.
Yeah it sucks I was just driving along. Then all the sudden the car would not go. I would just push the gas and then it would just rev up. It has been slipping lately. Luckily I broke down like 300 yards from my house. It realy sucked Im going to take out a loan. To get the h22 and tranny but I dont think it would be more than 3500$ for the parts and the swap at a shop. I dont know what to do cause I dont want to put money in repairing the old one. When I can put a little more money with it and get a H22 and tranny. But about my engine not starting I dont know whats up with that. It wont turn over at all and when I try to crank it the brake light on the cluster lights up. I hear the fuel pump come on and everything.
well im thinking maybe what broke in your tranny is binding up the motor that it wont turn??? automatic right? i rebuilt one for a guy and the bearings inside that the half shafts turn in were all busted up and prevented engine from turning. does it crank over at all? do you hear the starter engage? try jumping the starter outside the car and see if motor turns at all. just a thought. maybe it it is the case, how about just rebuilding the tranny?
Yeah Im just going to replace the tranny. Anyone think it may be the torque converter lock up solenoid? Also my car would start fine untill I tried to start it in second and it did. Then I think I cut if off in second can it be stuck in gear?

So with a little bump on the starter. The car will now start fine. But I checked the tranny fluid and it was gone. I have not seen it leaking I have not seen any sign of it. So I got some tranny fluid and filled it up to my surprise it worked again. I put in reverse first and it worked. Then I put it in drive and it worked fine. Parked it under my garage and checked to see if I could see any leaks. To my suprise no leaks that I could see. So then I got back in and put it in reverse. No such luck it would not go anywhere. Cut if off waited and then it worked again. Im sure I could keep doing this process but Im not leaving my yard. Untill I know its safe. You guys think its time for a new tranny or could it be something simpler?
cheapest way i can think of is go to a junkyard or dismantler and get another auto tranny the only thing is theres really no guaranty.
same thing happend to my auto tranny. started squeezing n2o about 2 yrs ago eventually the tranny would slip every now and then, then one day all the gears were dead except reverse. 5spd conversion in the works.
if your doing an h22 swap id just keep it automatic. the jdm h22 auto tranny are pretty strong trannies. from what ive seen w/ 5th gens stock h22 manual and autos, autos are arent that much slower.

Ok I have two questions. First my trasmission is still messed up. It works for a minute but it seems once it gets hot it stops. It makes a little bit of a winding noise. Then once the noise stops it doesnt want to move anymore. Someone told me Lucas may help. It that safe for hondas? Also my starter is messed up now it only starts 3 out 5 times. Only after I bang on it with something, So where would be the best place to get a new starter? Or could I just change the solenoid on it?

if youre on a budget get it rebuilt for like 8-1000 depending on shops...or ebay! i seen a few trannies going for sale on there lately, or even H-t members for fraction of the price... if your engines about to go you should save up for a h22 swap or get a f22b1 engine and replace the whole thing...
h22's are a bit more,
f22b1 cost less than your tranny would. lol :]

i would try getting the tranny flushed before you go replacing it. It fixes alot of problems...~$80 bucks if you call around.
$80 vs $900. Your call.

From what it sounds like to me, your clutch could also be gone. I don't know what to say about the tranny fluid other than maybe the fluid was low enough that it didn't show on the dipstick. You may have a slow leak somewhere and it eventually just drained all out. If you drove on it like that for a while I suggest just getting a new tranny. no fluid is bad. You may have messed up your starter jumping it those times, or it could just be coincidence that it went out the same time as your tranny.
BTW I saw a website recently that was selling H22a's with the tranny for 1500 even. Don't know what it includes but I saw it on the net while searching up engine codes to find out which one I have. f22b2 I think... something like that. SOHC non V-tec. That is what I got. 2.2 liter
