Default Koni or Bilstein

I've decided to go with an ERS setup from Ground Control over Tein HAs. Just curious as to everyones opinions on whether I should go for the Koni adjustables or the Bilsteins which are self-adjusting. BTW, I'm going with 400F/600R ERS springs. I know Big Phat R has the Bilsteins. Just trying to get some feedback beoferI order these tommorow morning.

Thanks in advance

Get Bilstein, Koni only provide a rough ride but nothing. Bilstein's are more stable and performs better around corners. Umm but using stiffer springs at the rear may cost bigger oversteer? It may just swings too much under hard braking and when u go around corners.

I decided to go with KONI yellows for my ITR. They will be on shortly.
They are the same part number as the 88 CRX...

So step on the ****** gas!

btw - I'm running on revalved Konis, and I love them. I really like having the adjustable feature. If you want something that isn't gonna beat you up though, and if you're still daily driving the car, better go w/ Bilsteins. Oh, and the Konis really won't work well out of the box at 500+ lb/in springs.

Thanks for the feedback, still have yet to make up my mind. Leaning a bit towards the Bilsteins though.

I think the ITR koni's are from the 88 ones. haven't changed from what shox.com told me. unless you want to change to GSR LCA's.

I have the koni yellers and they are for my use. Bilsteins I hear good things about and I thinki Yoshi was thinking of the same setup.

I am running all ITR springs and koni rear adjustable with ITR shox in front.

Both Koni's and Bilsteins are well made. I've been told that Bilsteins last longer between rebuilds than Koni's. Konis have the advantage to be adjustable. Either one you get, just make sure you get them properly revalved to accomodate 400-600lb/in spings. If you take either out of the box and just run them like that, I feel they wouldn't perform well for you.

I hate spamming the list, but I'll do it anyway only because this is such a good deal!

I've got two sets of the ITR Koni rears (same part # as the 88 CRX - as listed above). Both sets are brand new, in the box, never used. Part # 8040-1078 Sport.

I'm letting them go for $50 ea., $100/pr. That's a steal from retail, which is at $110+ each everywhere I've looked. Please email me privately if interested.

Bilsteins kick ***!!! Nice on the street, firm up when you want 'em too. Great stuff.

Contact CGI Motorsports and Phil will hook you up with a great price, too. Heck, you won't even have to pay shipping, since he's local...

If I were to keep the stock springs, should I get stock shocks or 'upgrade' to bilsteins?

Bilstein's are definately cheaper. I paid $420/set from Shox.com. Best investment so far!!!

The entire point of having the rear springs stiff is so you can mash on the gas, lock up the LSD and pull yourself out of the oversteering condition (read: a whole lot of fun) when at the track. Timing is important - but generally it happens at a rate of speed that you have no trouble catching. In the wet (at the track) it is a lot harder but still doable (except off camber high speed turns that you've overcooked).

The perception that the 400f/600R setup is dangerous or wildly oversteering is very untrue. I invite anyone to a ride in my car for me to prove that perception wrong.

Deided to go with the Bilsteins. Self adusting and 419 from shox.com. As for the Ground Controls, should be in next week. Can't wait. 'll keep everyone posted.

For those who have done it. How big of a job was it. Never done suspension work. Just curious whether I could do it myself or Should I pay to have it done somewhere local in Chicago. I just wouldn't really trust anyone, but myself.

Any help would be appreciated.

installation is straight forward for someone who has installed coilovers before.

Make sure to trim your stock bumpstops about 1.5-2".

ERS = Eibach springs? How/who can revalve shocks if needed? is 400/600 ideal setup? any other setups worth mentioning?

Do I need to use anything specific to trim the bumpstops?? About how long would it take for the entire job??
