Default New Problem

Well got the car back and running. Now it still idles about 2,ooo rpms and after a sec surges..i found that if I cover most of the small valve in the TB it calms the idle down and stops the surging..but if I clog it completely it dies. I also found that if I clog it slightly and calm the idle about 5 minutes later the surging comes back. Any clues??

Take the fast idle valve out and clean it.

You also might want to try bleeding the coolant line as well. It's possible that there's an air pocket right at the FIV so it thinks that's the engine's not warmed up yet.

There's probably a bleed valve somewhere by the thermostat housing. I'm not sure the proper way to bleed it as I've never had to do it before.
