Default Engine Swap or just build this one?

i have a 03 2 dr honda civic ex manual. I'm not very knowledged in all the different types of engines but was wondering if it was just worth swaping a new engine in my civic instead of just about replacing every part of the engine on mine. I know its a lot of money, but would it save me money in the long run. If i should swap, suggestions to what type on engine, tubo's, etc... thanks

If you got money, swap it out.... but if you are dependant on your father's income, you might wanna second think your decision as it is a 2003 car with an already high insurance rate along with APR and a monthly payment!

actually, i'm makig all the paments on my car, and insurance, and have a job. In my other post my dad was paying for my tires just because he wanted me to have a safer car. and also, is a k20 just strictly a race engine, and how much horepower does it have, and how much can it handle, and reliability?? thanks sorry

i agree...save up and swap a k20. the k20 comes in three models- one is in the rsx and civic si's that puts out 160hp. the second is in the rsx type-s, which is 200hp. the third is in the rsx type-r, which puts out 220hp. they are all really good and reliable motors so you wont have to worry about them breakin down on you or replacing parts for a while. but as it was said, they are pricey.

if u want a 200-250 horsepower range for cheap i suggest turbocharging the new D17. it makes loads of torque under boost. try researching http://www.7thgencivic.com. there u will find so much useful information and kill stories with turbo D17s eating stock twin cams and running right along next to evos.

there's also videos there for anyone who wants to diss and call BS on a D17 block.

but... if u want a car over 300 horses then i suggest getting the swap. we also have a silver 02 coupe on 7thgencivic.com with DC5R engine, suspension, boosted at 25psi. tuned to 500hp. lemme tell u it gave a supra a run for its money. it was also featured recently in modified magazine.

happy tuning!

save money for K20A
great engine, put out 220hp stock

when you have more money and mod it, you can go up to 700 hp

I would get the K20A if I had doe. If not go B-Series, they are always still good. If you look at how much money you would spend to rebuild D-Series then you could buy a B-Series and have more power for the same money.
