Re: All motor or turbo? (Spade)
I am going to be getting a R or GSR motor and I am staying All motor because of longterm reliability. I was told by this mechanic, Rob, that you always build the motor ABOVE how you intend to use it. All motor is more expensive and turbo'ing is fairly cheap. I personally think a mild all motor setup is great for me because it has to be my daily driver. I hope that all made sense...I am on morphine for my car crash ownage.

with all motor u can start building it slowly then the outcome will be great. But turbo u need everything right there and now.
I say all motor
I say all motor

since his question was what he should do with the type-r, my opinion is to get the most out of it...by boosting it. why would it be a waste? just replace the pistons or headgasket to lower the compression and you're good to go. and if u THINK the type-r head isnt good for boost go here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=704660
there are a few people on this board who have even boosted a c5 motor on STOCK internals, and with tuning got A LOT of power out of it.
which route would i go? i still say boost it if u got the cash...
tuning is the key...
but again this is all IMO

i guess its all a matter of opinion .... i would do all motor .. and i know the head will be fine for boost.. i just think the type r is a great starting point for all motor.. its a jump start..

All mota!!!
**** turbo lag when you can mod the c5 up the ying yang. Plus, stock comp for the c5 with boost would not be a good idea.
I'm full of good ideas... I mean, dangerious ideas.

Re: All motor or turbo? (jgcrxsi)
heh turbo newbs talking about "High compression".
You replace the pistons/rods/headgasket.. and there goes your high compression and lets you run higher boost.

Re: All motor or turbo? (B20VTEC-DC)
I would go all motor. Turbo can be a bitch sometimes. Too many headaches. Go all motor and spray the crap out of it. You would be smoking turbo's for cheaper.
