insurance lose cuz of an engine swap?
i heard that your insurance could be revoked cuz of an engine swap with a different engine or that the insurance company wouldnt give you any money for the car if you crashed it cuz it was modified. is this true or is this just bullshit?

ur in cali so it might be different there, but over in maryland what they do is if u get a swap there is no additional insurance for it. so what they will do in an event of a lost or an "incident" they will replace the original engine. say u had a stock civic engine it died, you go out an replace it with a b16a. you go out to the mall someone steals ur ****( engine) well there gonna replace it with a stock civic engine. i think the only way to get all of ur $ back is to have a show car policy. but i think most of those have mileage restrictions. so check with ur insurance company and see what they have.

you have to get a different kind of insurance for that. with progressive (in MD), you have to get customization insurance (stereo, engine, body kit, etc) on top of your existing insurance.
