Default ls vs ls vtec

i am running the following setup on my ls ported and polished head, cams, valvetrain, header, manifold, tb. and my compression is just around 11.1. can i squeeze some more out of this setup or just build an ls vtec i would use a b16 head ported with ctr intake cam and itr exhaust cam skunk2 manifold for the top end. The bottom end i would use a b18b1 block with itr pistonson shot peened ls rods all balanced and i would use arp rod bolts on them. Now the question is how much of a difference would i see from my non vtec ls setup i just posted. if their is only a 20 horse difference then it would be a waste to do but i don't know so i wanted to get some feedbak on it. also please post your setup just for future help and knowledge thanks alot.

the vtec head you listed is deff going to help make pwr, no question about it. go with ctr pistons to bump the cr

in a builder's aspect, i dont even understand why some people even bother with a b20 or ls head.
thats like the new fad or something these days. not flaming you or anything. JMO

go with the vtec head. the stock head even with out pnp flows great.

i would stick with ITR
cuz as soon as u use CTR u going to have to either run 100 and above fuel
which ain't easy to afford around here and find

or run at a retarded time and suck *** on the streets

so i would stick with ITR

but that is my opinion

u can do what u like, bro

For people that think you need to have some crazy *** parts and high *** compression to make good power just look at the dyno on this page http://www.importreview.com/d_1.8.html

The one near the bottom titled "1994 B18B - Atomic's Car" pretty impressive.

TRUST ME YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE ANY OEM PISTON IF YOU WANT GOOD CONSISTANT COMPRESSION I WENT THE WAY YOU KIND OF ARE GOING AND IT WAS HORRIBLE I RUN 13TO1 WIESICO'S NOW WITH STOCK ROD STOCK CRANK I HAVE 1.7 GSR HEAD OLD SCHOOL BUT THE BEST COMBO I THINK. I'VE RAN FULLY PORTED 1.8GSR B16 B20 BUT THIS COMBO OUT PREFORMS ALL JUST THINK ABOUT 11TO1 OR 13TO1 FOR MAYBE 100 BUCKS MOR AND MORE LIABILITY THEY ARE BUILT FOR IT CTR OT ITR ARE NOT. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT

My best friend runs CTR pistons in his LS/VTEC and he runs on 93 octane. No ping at all smooth as glass.

I run B20 VTEC on 12.5:1 compression on 93 octane in my B20 on stock sleeves too. I think LS/Vtec with CTR pistons yields a 12.1 compression ratio on LS/Vtec but not exactly sure..... Both his and my motors run great...

What about 91 oct gas?

I wanted .25 over with ctrsin an 1.8 ls and skunk 2 stage 2 cams in B16A head, but I figured the timing would have to be retarted, and then ran on 100.

And how would make sure that you burn all the gas of 91 octane, and then be runnin on the 100 when u wanna race? Just buy like 5 gallons of race gas, lol?
