All i can say is do it sober and make sure you have proper torque specs...

The best book to rebuild your motor is the Honda factory manual. Follow all the steps and you should be all good. I would actually mic the bearings, but plastigauages will work fine.

it kinda depends on what you want to rebuild this motor for.
it could be just a refresher rebuild for daily stock driving, or it could be for performance and more power. the Helm's/OE manual is good for all the torque specs and general info so that the motor goes together as perfectly as possible, and lasts a long time. but as for performance mods and assembly like P&P heads, manifold work, assembly tips for the most power/longevity, high rpm use, F/I use etc. etc. then you may want to look to the Honda performance handbooks that are out there. i have read some of them and they can be of assistance when building a motor up. you can use the Honda OE manual along with some performance manuals/books to build a good, solid motor. gauging the bearings, checking piston to wall clearances, ring gap and position, torque specs are all standard things that shouldn't be overlooked since they are very important.

Thanks for all your replys. Sweet's reply is what i was looking for. Which Honda Performance Books would you reccomend?

I am rebuilding a D16y8 for boost. This will be a daily driver with a few trips to the track (1/4 mile.) Right now i have a set of 14CC Wiseco pistons and looking to get a set of eagle rods. Power is important to me, but reliability is more important.

i have read the Volume 1 Honda Performance Handbook that has been around for quite some time now. that was pretty informative overall. i'm not sure about the newer ones including the 2nd Volume. there are various others with more specific topics that i picked up such as Suspension Tuning and Nitrous Injection. also some of the info i've picked up from your average mag, the Tech articles. some are pretty good, but not all. even here on H-T you can find some good info and tips.

it's a good thing you find reliability important, cause it definantly is.
