I know it is possible to turbo charge the VX engine anything is possible.. but would you recommend it? Im afriad that the turbo will mess up the special engine emissions controller.. or with that matter?

for the money to turbo that motor.. you could just get a y8 or something....... dont know much about that motor but im sure you can get past most problems one way or another... just on how much money you have

I got one Turboed not really tuned but its pretty quick. Low compression so less problems with detonation. I am gunna use a p28 when I tune it cuz I don't have a working 02 and they cost like 300+. Also the wide band air fuel gauge cost alot to and not gunna put that kinda money into this engine i would prefer a p28 with narrowband o2, also have not heard of many Ppl chipping or tunnning the stock Ecu. I use a si intake manifold which I highly recommended. I am just waiting to get a p28 so I can tune it. With 450 CC dsm injectors. BTW I have about 7 psi and my gas mileage is still great even with my fmu

the Z1 has weaker rods, a poorer flowing head and not tuning it will eventually blow the motor. Around here there's a shop that will dyno tune the car for $300 out the door if you supply the laptop and other hardware. I'd say that's alright.

Also wide band O2 sensors aren't that expensive, they're like $50 on eBay and it's a good idea on a turbo motor incase you have injector problems or something, then you can catch it before the motor blows.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not, but a z1 doesn't pop when i goes into vtec-e... Vtec-e opens another intake valve at 2500rpms...

you do realize the intake ports on ur z1 head r like half the size of the ports on the si manifold right???

For the price of a D series, it would probably be worth the added money to swap a Y8 or Z6 and then turbo it...

Or you can turbo it and run about 5-6lbs, and if it does blow up, get a z6 head and keep the z1 block, then run 12lbs on it. My plans atleast. I want to keep vtec-e for fuel economy, just get into boost when i want. it has a wide band that will compensate and add fuel, as well as maybe a FMU... one way to find out! Spend $600 on a full kit on ebay and put it on.

^^If you're going to spend the money to boost it, spend the money on a proper tune. Crome is free and tuning isn't that spendy...i wouldnt risk an engine, even a lowly D series , to an FMU

How much HP could you really expect out of a z1 though? with the small intake ports and the tight piston clearance? but I havn't seen many Z1's out there with turbo, so I was just gonna do it. But a z1 has baby injectors, i forget there output maybe 190cc or something like that. Would an FMU still help that? I think the factory wideband would be able to compensate for the 5-6lbs of boost. Am I wrong? A Z1 has a factory wideband that adjusts the fuel/ignition.

With a set of DSM 450cc injectors and a decent turbo setup, you could probably make ~200whp safely with a proper tune
