Default So I am one lucky motha...

So I am rebuilding my motor right now. Cortney(uglyasscivic) is doing the work. I get to his house and hes frieking out saying, dude your motor was put together backwards!! Turns out the shop that built my motor last time tried to use b16 rod bearings, not b18c1. And the thrust bearing was in backwards..somehow, my motor lasted 10k miles and alot of abuse..

Damn I feel very fortunate right now..someone was looking out for me..

Main Entry: slander
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English sclaundre, slaundre, from Old French esclandre, from Late Latin scandalum stumbling block, offense -- more at SCANDAL
1 : the utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another's reputation
2 : a false and defamatory oral statement about a person -- compare LIBEL

Please inform the rest of us of a shop claiming to offer decent service when in fact they are lying thieves. Do you want one of us to end up with a poorly (incorrectly) built engine?

B16 Rod Bearings on a GSR isnt that big of a deal.

The thrust washer thing is bogus tho.

from what I understand, all B-series main bearings are the same, the rod bearings are different for the B18c's, the B16's and the non vtec motors have a wider bearing and the B18c's have narrower bearing with special coating which holds the oil better and is therefor better for high rpm and the rod-stroke ratio. However, people build ls/vtec's with ls bearings all the time and rev the **** out of them. The thrust washer problem looks a little more serious, the washers might not have gotten enough lubrication but if the clutch wasn't putting too much pressure on the crank than it should be ok, at least for 10k.

Still dont you think that a shop which claims to know their **** shouldnt make mistakes like these?

B16 rod bearings will not even fit on a gsr rod..gsr rods are alot thinner than a B16.
