Default Short ram VS CAI for JRSC?

I currently have the J's Racing copy "sausage" intake and it seems to be working just fine but I usually try and change parts every other year...

I was thinking a cold air would be good for super charger because the engine gets so damn hot from the charger...

Anybody have actuall numbers with a short ram vs cold air for a jrsc civic?

my car is a 2000 civic hatch with D16Y8 and a JRSC with 8psi

edit...found some info with the search option but no actual dyno numbers...anybody?

I think you may have answered your own question. I am going to say the colder the air the better. I would use a AEM bypass valve though just in case.

Definitely cold air. Roots blowers are so adiabatically inefficient. The colder the input air, the better.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE AN AEM BYPASS VALVE WITH CAI.

Bypass vavle+CAI+JRSC= rubber diaphram inside your blower.

jackson racing says the short ram is better for throttle response.

"We have found short intakes, such as our Jackson Racing line, to be better suited to the Supercharger than the long and skinny cold air intake style. "

Jackson Racing says a lot of things. I prefer to keep my intake temps as cool as possible.

Take this for what you will...

JR, Endyn & independent testing have all shown that a 3" Short Ram provides more power throughout the RPM range than a CAI. This is especially evident at higher boost levels.

My thoughts are...these tests were probably performed with 2.25/2.5" CAI's...I wonder if someone has tried a 3" CAI, what the results would then be.

I routed cold air to my 3" short ram when I was JRSC'd.

I didn't notice a decrease in throttle repsonse with a CAI on my old setup.

you want a pic of my sausage?? ewwwwwwwwwwww LOL

Here is a current pic but doesn't really show the intake.

This was a couple months ago:

I won't be selling the sausage, just wanna try something new and compare. I also want to enclose the area around the filter, with a second pipe going into the front bumper CAI style.

Hrm... seems like Jackson Racing and others haven't tested with a 3" cai from what I am hearing.

Hey Chad, I did some testing on my setup recently and found that I actually created 1 psi of pressure increase with the CAI, compared to the SRI. Not only that, but power felt drained with the CAI at the higher end of the rpm band. Also, I've been doing a lot of reading lately on the positiove displacement blowers, and found that they really like the shortest, fattest path possible when the boost kicks in. The Butt dyno (and g-tech confirmed this).

Have you considered a larger TB?
jrsc cars respond very well to a larger TB mod.

What about doing some work on your IM, and jrsc inlet?
I had some really nice increases after tapering my IM runners, and porting the inlet tube.

Anyway, you're best off sticking with an SRI, and maybe combat the higher intake temps with a water injection setup. You're throttle response, and dyno chart will thank you.

Hypa:

I really want to upgrade the TB, but no funds for that right now. I'm actually starting work at Telus on Wed so things should be good after that!
Check pm btw...

Porting is a possibility as I do want to change my head anyways. I think once I can afford the TB i'll put my old head on and match the neck on the jrsc to the tb.

Water injection system is still way too expensive for what it is. I remember reading a while back that somebody made a custom injection system with a windshield waterfluid resorvoir. Any info on this?

I'm not sure the actual size of the inlet/outlet but the outlest is atleast 5"
they are easily available on ebay and I am sure somebody has the measurements on there.
