Your help please. I recently buying an ACT Xtreme Clutch kit (XTSS) and wanted the dealer to put it in for me. I have ask around and everyone is charging H*lla a lot. price wise (480-600) depends on some shop. I would like to know how much really it suppose to be? thanks for your help.

 

Regularly around 600 with clutch is the going rate.

 

Anyone know? average labor, cheap labor so far, Including flywheel resuface.

 

just installation, with extra labor of taking of ATTS unit ran about $200 for me

get a new flywheel also, so you don't have to pay the same labor twice...Whenever I had my clutch and flywheel installed, everything cost about $1000 for parts and labor....I won't ever pay that again, cause it's pretty easy to do yourself as long as you have air tools or access to them

 

I would think a pretty good price for the install labor would be $300. If you can find someone to do it in that ballpark you got a quality deal.

 

I paid $465.

wow. 480 - 600 not including the clutch is a ridiculous price. $250 - 300 seems more fair.

I would never pay that much although i never really pay anyone to work on my car. Id rather do it myself.

I don't know what the typical labor rate per hour is where you guys are at, but here in KC area, hourly labor rate is around $70-$85 per hour.

$75 x 7-9 hrs= $525-$675 for labor alone.

We charge $60 per hour and charge 6 hrs for base prelude clutch job. Very reasonable considering the alternative of a dealership

$360.00 for labor is alittle overpriced for a independent shop. Anything over $200.00 for a fairly easy clutch job, is a rip, considering any desent mechanic could do the work in nomore then 2.5 hours.

 

Really! Mannn...these shop really put you down, don't y'all think so? I mean you support their business but they charge you more than expect. suck. anyway, thanks to all. finally found a place, Asian Old dude. Charge me for 300 hundred for labor plus flywheel resurface 40. while other place telline me twinkle twinkle little star story of labor $600.00

 

Prices always vary a whole shitload from place to place. I know someone who got quoted at one shop for $900 just labor for an H22 swap then a week later found another place less then 10 minutes away from the original place that did it for $400 and did a great job.

 

Get yourself a helms manual and a buddy to help you and do it yourself. It's really not that hard and considering most shops will rape you w/ labor.

 

what can we say.... mechanics gotta make money too am i right???.... all shops charge different prices....

 

drive down here and i'll show you how to change it for $100.

 

wouldn't say that $360 labor was overpriced for independent shop around here. We still are roughly 15%-20% cheaper than almost anybody in town on almost all repair and maintenance. And we also only use or suggest genuine factory parts, to save fuss and comebacks and angry customers from happening.

 

I had paid $100.00 for clutch job. I know most people won't hook you up that cheap.

 

as long as you dont take to pep boys you are set. i use to work there and man i seen things that would astonish you guys.


shop around in your area and see if they match other shops prices. hustle them shops.

 

did it my self cost.. one big *** head ach

 

hahaha.....thats funny. Yeah! thats one reason i wouldn't bother doing. getting headache from working with new clutches and not many size of tools around.
