Hey there.

A clutch install alone shouldn't cost more than 300 bucks. Honda trannys are pretty light compared to other transaxles. Hours wise i say you can do it in anywhere from 2-6 hours

yeah, my mechanic does quality work but hes too pricey.... im going to do it myself
i can start a new thread but does anyone have any good tips or links to how-to's?
i saw the integra how-to on cspeedracing but im not 100% sure its the same, it should be shouldnt it?

400 is not the best deal in town but its fair ... some shops charge more. if you are changing just the clutch and not the flywheel... if the 400 includes them resurfacing the flywheel then its a good deal as long as the mechanic is good and clean. you get what you pay for in most cases so just find out if that includes resurfacing the flywheel and if the mechanic is good.

I should have been more specific thats for removal and replacment of clutch, flywheel, throwout and pressure plate....im supplying all of the parts also

But seriously, it's not hard.

Just have some support under the oil pan when youtake off the passenger side tranny mount. Don't pull the axles out of the hub, just pull them from the tranny and let them fall on the ground- saves time on the stupid axle nut.

Use loctite on on bolts

I got gaffled when I was a younger I paid $400 in labor to have the trans replaced.... I am sooooo happy I do all my own work now...

i just did mine a couple days ago, make sure u have the engine supported when u take out the mounts, and really really make sure u remember where everything goes, and if u want a quick how-to, here it is, take off the control arms on ur suspension in order to take out the cv joints, let the oil drip into a container, and then start takin the bolts out of the starter, slave, front bracket, around the block, shift linkage, maybe some others, and lastly take out the ones for the motor mounts and make sure the engine is supported. now its time to take out the tranny, u may have to shake it, and put a pry bar there, might be hard to take off, but once u do, its all easy, then u gotta put it back together. if u know what ur doin or understand this it should be easy, if not then its a million piece puzzle, and it took me about 8 hours with jack stands and hand tools

what did you support the engine with? jack? how many jack stands and stuff did you use...

yea, it was just me, and i jacked the front of the car way up and supported it with 2 jack stands on the rocker panel. and i put a jack stand under the oil pan to support the engine, and i lowered the trany with a jack. just make sure u have some brake fluid, 2 quarts of oil (u gotta pump it in, the plug is a bolt facing away from the engine block and its righjt by the shift linkage, it sticks out a lil more then the other bolts, and pump it in until starts to come out), and make sure u have all the right tools. id say itll take u anywhere from 7 hours if things roll smoothly, to 18 hours if u have lots of problems ( it took and friend and i 17 hours to do his, we had to take the trany off 4 times, if u have anymore questions, my email is slimshadydre@hotmail.com, and my aol sn is tallblondkid4286

NO! DIY! It really isn't that hard. Get a helms manual and follow the directions. Any emergencies can usually be answered on here. Good luck bro!

while i was having horrible problems with my reverse on my b16, i had my transmission removal time down to 45 minuets with hand tools from the time i turned the car off. its not that hard, just make sure you buy a helms for your first time. TORQUE SPECS AND ORDER ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR CLUTCH

also resurface your flywheel. its a good idea to do it.

well im actually removing and replacing my clutch, flywheel (replacing with 8.4lb) and replacing the pressure plate, will this make it a lot harder?

I hope you know what your in for using an 8.4lb flywheel. On a car that light, things are going to get interesting...I'd go with 11+lbs at least, unless it's not a street car, which I'm assuming it is..

Jesus Christ! $400 for clutch labor?? That's ridiculous, are you sure your mechanic didn't mean $400 including the clutch...

I usually pay $150.00, when I don't feel like doing it myself, but it's pretty easy to do yourself, you just need a buddy to help you lift and drop the tranny..
