Default Is there a diff. in obd1 & obd2 Oil pump?

I want to know if buying a used 98+ would be ok or do I have to buy a new one from dealer which is an arm & a leg............

yes ther is a difference between obd 1 and obd 2 pumps the obd 2 pumps ahve the position for the CYP sensor and also the lower cover has different mounting holes

yes you can, but you have to get a obd2 lower timing cover also.

It's the CKF sensory not CYP.

As everyone has said the oil pumps have the exact same mounting points (i.e. both will bolt to the same block without a problem) the difference is the '96+ oil pumps have mounting points on their outer casing for the crankshaft speed fluctuation sensor which is only needed when running most OBDII ECU's... Whenever we rebuild motors we typically just use OBDII oil pump even if the motor is going in an OBDI car, it just makes it easier if later on down the road your motor gets paired up with an OBDII ECU...

Damn, I just remembered too... I forgot to mention even if the water pumps for some reason have a different part number they're still the exact same... 22 teeth = VTEC pump
