Default Just put in my new headunit

Just put in my new headunit. It's an alpine 9805. wow, it really makes the stock speakers 500% better. I ran along so difficulties along the way.
- Cracked the center console in opening it. Oops. You cant tell the diff.
- Took me 40 mins to get the old radio out, cause i could get the center console out.
- Took me 30 mins to wire
- took me 30 ins to put it in, the ant cable was really short and that alone took me 15
- then i had to put it back together. that took me about 40. trying to get the center console back in a cracked one of those damn little connectors off. no biggie. it looks fine. then i forgot to ground the radio. oops. so i took the ground, couldnt get it to go any farther so i electrical taped it to the metal aprt of the ash tray. is this safe? i didnt ground the other ground, but that was kinda unecessary. what else, oh everything is in fine.

So what i am really asking is is it okay if the ground thinger is just taped to the metal part above the ashtray. I couldnt get it to touch the frame. Any ideas?

no that would be very very bad. it has to be a part of the body or a peice that is grounded to the battery. Taping is not a good idea. You definently want to put it to a bolt, screw, or carefully use a self tapping screw in a location that won't hit any wire. bad ground= bad sound

ok so it wont **** it up for the time being right? i have to wait until next week to get some more wire to make it longer so that i can screw it into the frame. It wont short out or anything like that right? I plan on getting the problem fixed.
