Ok I have a B16 engine at a machineshop

I have $600 to spend for major parts (pistons/rods etc...)

I want to boost it(6-8psi)

what would be the cheapest route to go with good parts under $600

 

are you doing custom or turbo kit?

 

I assume you have a turbo setup already?

See if you can find some used forged pistons, and eagle rods. New stuff with bearings will cost more then $600...even used might cost more then that.

 

keep your stock rods (shotpeen them if its cheap with ARP rod bolts) find some used forged pistons.... new bearings (main and rod)..... i guess id use a block guard with how much money you are spending..... id almost be partial to sleeving that block and keeping everything stock

 

Blockguards aren't really worth it. There are plenty of people putting down serious power without a block guard.

The main weakness of honda engines is the stock cast pistons weak ringlands, and with D series engines, the small rods.

 

keep on saving.

soooo true- thats what broke on my friends b16 turbo

 

You can safely boost 6-8 PSI on a stock B series, jsut amke sure your air/fuel mix is correct.

 

get weisco pistons and eagle rods youll be about 700 in the whole give or take depending on the deals u find

 

daily driver / custom turbo kit / no turbo yet

2. autolock
3. kill switch(s)


then any other mods.

alarms and autolocks dont do **** homie , i hope you dont find out the hard way.....kill switches do however work

600 bucks?

me personally would buy an Intercooler, but just because I don't have one yet.

 

6-8 psi?

Get some cams/gears or a good p&p job. Work on efficency. Or redirect into tuning

 

if u don't have standalone then i would just spend it on that

Give the 600 to the support Trav fund! It's Tax Deductable and you can sleep better at night knowing you hepled people in need.

wtf? alarms and autolocks dont do ****?? I guess you had a bad experience, but My alarm and my autolock saved my car from being stolen numerous times. Sure thieves can bypass these things, but to amateurs they are not worth tampering with.

spend it on strengthening your motor or on security for the car so you can keep it.

 

If you only plan on running 6-8PSI, stock internals should be fine with a good tune. I say get a hondata and injectors so you don't blow your **** up.
