I went through a new trannsmission in ONE DAY! Can Honda trannies handle high HP?
Ok, somebody tell me what is wrong. I have a 2000 Type R, boosting around 350hp easy. That tranny stopped going into 5th and reverse. So I took it to Acura and they put all NEW internals in.
So now I got the car back and have had the car for ONE DAY.
It started grinding with the clutch ALL THE WAY IN. It would also pop out of gear in 5th. I sometimes can not get it into 1st, 2nd, 4th, or 5th. I have not even got on it. Boosted maybe a few psi.
AND I SHIFT LIKE A GRANDMA. My friends make fun of me because I baby my transmission soo much.
So can Honda Trannies just not handle high HP? OR is my ACURA dealership just a bunch of Jackasses who cant fix a transmission?

They replaced your transmission under warranty with all those mods? Thats almost unbelieveable.
I knew a guy once that had no tranny oil, so it kept on popping out of gear. I guess you should check if they filled it up with oil.
I believe alot of those 9-10sec hondas are using their stock LS tranny, so I would think most honda trannies are just as durable, whether its in a LS or Type-R.

I had to pay for them to work on my car of course.
You really think they would warranty a 350hp car?

Nope, I didn't. I'm just surprised people go to the dealer for non-warrantied work. Any work I get done, I go to places called "Dr. Honda" or "honda/acura specialists".
I figure these guys work exclusively on hondas, just like the dealer, but they have a bigger stake in providing good service. If they do a bad job, they'll lose a customer, lose revenue, lose house, lose wife, and so on. Mechanics at the dealers might lose their job, but its easier to find another job than it is to start another business.

What kinda clutch do you have? And also for non-warranty work i WOULD NOT take it to the Acura Dealership, their staff members are commonly undertrained (or around here) they go and get trained a little info about a lot of stuff, where as if you went to a transmission shop they know a lot about transmissions and not a lot about other stuff.
You took the tranny to the dealership to get rebuilt? I guarantee they messed up the rebuild.
