grounding valve cover

Default grounding valve cover

Does the valve cover have to be grounded? whats the reason? mines isn't grounded right now and car runs fine. just asking.

It grounds off overall kinetic energy that builds up due to all the moving parts if i remember correctly.

It's not grounding your valve cover, its grounding your engine.
You should also have a ground running to your tranny.

You have alot of electrical components that use the engine as a ground. If Your engine is not grounded to your chassis(which is hooked to your neg. battery terminal), alot of your electrical compontents can be affected.

Your engine is probably running ok right now because all the current is running through your tranny ground, but is doing so less efficiently.

I actually helped a guy trouble shoot a "no start" today. The starter would just click and would not engage. After testing the battery, I noticed he had no engine or tranny ground.
I threw on an engine an tranny ground and it fired right up.

Grounds are important!

Same here, put it this way if your trying to look at it in laymens terms. You dont want positive and negative energies bumping heads. ground the *****..

I'm gonna do it this weekend, I was just asking after I noticed people with engine grounds then looked at mines and didn't see any, the tranny is grounded though.

mines not correctly installed and i just get shocked everytime i get out of my car ... its annoying but so is taking the time to ground it right

lol yea all 30 seconds it takes is a real bitch...

ground your motor, it will run better.
