Like the topic says: Here is the problem and when it started.
Last night I was enjoying some spirited driving on the highway with a friend. I missed 5th gear. Now when I put the car in reverse it wants to stay in reverse. I can get out of reverse but it feels like something is grinding when I do it. After it is out of reverse it drives fine goes into gears with no problems, the only problem is reverse. Any ideas?
Oh yeah, goes into reverse smoothly like normal it is getting it out of reverse that is kinda hairy.
This is what Im thinking:
1. Bent shift fork between 5/rev
2. Sheared off the gear (reverse and that is why it wont come out of gear)
3. I dont ******* know?
Help me please!

At first glance I thought you might have a popped clutch disc spring. But I am leaning towards a bent shift fork. Only one way to find out for sure-open it up.

Ok, no power shifting was involved. Ok I went to go into 5th gear at a rather high RPM and speed. When I when to put it in gear, I must have not had the clutch all the way in.
Every gear is fine, it even goes into reverse fine, but pulling it out of revers is the pain. The car drives fine thought,
And I really think what happened was that I overthrew the shift and hit the reverse gear.

Ok so everyone is pointing towards the bent shift for between 5 and Rev.
Now I know the only real way to know is to pull the transmission apart and look for myself. In that instance would it be better to rebuild or just buy a new tranni?

the exact same thing happened to me over the summer. grinded the chit out of 5th while trying to get it into 3rd and then reverse was difficult to shift into and out of. worse when coming out of reverse.
5th/reverse hub selector was the problem. not the shifter fork. either way you're gonna have to crack your tranny open.

How much did that all end up costing you? Did you do it yourself or take it to someone and pay to have it done.
(never done the transmission before, dont want to screw it up)

If you have the helms and some patience/attention to detail you'll be fine fixing it yourself. But yes, the hub could very well be the problem.
