should i get a breather?
i'm planning to do my turbo install in about a month. i've been looking at lots of pics of turbo setups and have tried to find threads but i can't really tell if most people use valve cover breathers or hook up the pcv hose to the intake pipe like it's supposed to be.
which way is better and why?

a breather filter will make ur engine bay get dirty faster just take large vacume or fuel hose and run down the back of ur motor so it dumps on the ground. thats what i got on my 1.8T and it works fine.

No you can't do that with turbo because you will rob yourself of boost... If oyu run it back to the intake pipe it has to be the one before the turbo, not the charge pipe...

ok i've looked closely at a few more pics, and it seems like a lot of people go back to the same spot just before the TB.
wouldn't connectiong it before the turbo get your compressor side all dirty from the fumes and **** that come out of the pcv hose?

you also do not want to be putting positive pressure into the crankcase

i can't see robbing it of boost. maybe a split second of lag while the crankcase fills up, but that's a pretty tiny hole compared to the TB.
so is there a final answer here? i don't really know anything about a catch can setup. haven't read up on them. maybe in the future.
until then, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

you don't want to have positive pressure in your crankcase.. thats the whole reason that hole is there.. to relieve the pressure.. i don't have mine hooked up to anything.. i hasn't gotten dirty anywhere.. i guess it just depends on how much blowby you have

Yes if you don't have a intake pipe to run it back to, just run a hose off the valve cover and have it dump to open atmosphere...
